Press ReleaseWeather Services International selects Ceterus Networks' Universal Transport System for Mission-Critical Data Transport ApplicationsAllen, TX, February 22, 2005Ceterus Networks, a provider of flexible transport solutions, today announced that Weather Services International (WSI), a leading provider of real-time weather data, has selected the Universal Transport System (UTS) product family from Ceterus Networks for their vital data transport needs. WSI delivers up-to-date weather data to customers in the energy, aviation and media markets as well as state and government agencies who rely on this information to make real-time decisions. WSI will use the Ceterus UTS equipment to create high speed Ethernet-based data links between sites using the existing TDM infrastructure. "We reviewed many options, but in the end the Ceterus Networks approach in terms of flexibility, simplicity, ease of use-and cost-could not be matched," stated Jeff Larkham, WSI's communications manager. "Based on our previous experience with UTS products for data center connection, we decided to deploy the Ceterus UTS900 for data transport between our data center and two new satellite uplinks as well." WSI has now deployed Ceterus Networks' UTS900 and UTS1000 products to meet their rapidly expanding need for data center connectivity as well as to link their corporate headquarters in Massachusetts to satellite receivers hundreds of miles away. The UTS platforms' circuit bonding capabilities have provided simple, flexible Ethernet bandwidth from existing TDM access circuits. The UTS1000 gave WSI the Ethernet client interfaces it needed, connecting data centers using copper DS3s, while the UTS900 provided Ethernet services over bonded T1 private line circuits. "WSI's distributed locations require a solution that can deliver Ethernet services, over any type of access network," said Dave Stehlin, President and CEO of Ceterus Networks. "We're excited to help WSI grow its business, and pleased that WSI relies on us to provide highly reliable, high QoS packet transport solutions." An added benefit of the UTS family is its scalability. As bandwidth needs grow, the products grow with them. For example, adding T1s to the "virtual pipe" created by circuit bonding means bandwidth can be increased without affecting any mission-critical services. The UTS platforms provide protection: in the event individual access circuits fail, the virtual pipe continues to transmit using the remaining circuits, and the client bandwidth is throttled to ensure that no data is lost. Management of all Ceterus UTS products is controlled through an embedded web GUI, or via either SNMP or TL1, enabling simple integration with an enterprise's existing network management suite. Unmatched performance, superior value, and simple installation and operation have made the Ceterus UTS product family the preferred transport platform in WSI's network About Ceterus Networks Ceterus Networks provides flexible transport solutions that enable Ethernet as well as legacy service delivery to any location, over copper or fiber. By transforming existing wireline and wireless networks to carry flexible packet-based Ethernet as well as TDM services, Ceterus products enable providers and enterprises to deliver these high-bandwidth, high-QoS managed services to every location, while minimizing access cost and capital expense. Ceterus Networks is a privately-held company founded in 2001 and headquartered in Allen, Texas. For more information, visit the company's web site at www.ceterus.com. Contacts: Tony Katsulos |
